In his role as Advisor, Raj is responsible for assisting graduate and under graduate advisors, consulting with faculty members and providing assistance to students regarding fellowships, internships and grants from federal agencies, private foundations and corporations.

In terms accomplishments, he was recently awarded a Fulbright Specialist grant by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.  Last year, he was selected to join the Roster of Fulbright Specialists by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars for five years (2016-2021) and invited to serve on the peer review team for the Fulbright Program.  In addition, he has also helped students at Tech secure Fulbright and other nationally and internationally recognized fellowships and internships and has raised the visibility of the Nunn School with the Atlanta Consular Corps.

Before joining Tech, Raj served as Director of International Education, International Program Development, and of the Nine University and College International Studies Consortium of Georgia at Southern Polytechnic State and Middle Georgia State universities (2009-2015).  Over the years, he has received three Fulbright Scholarships to study and travel in Germany, Japan, and Brazil.  During the course of h is professional career, Raj has worked at Clayton State University (2004-2008) and Columbus State University (1990-2004), both part of the University System of Georgia.  Before coming to the U. S. to pursue post-graduate studies, he worked at the American Embassy/U. S. Agency for International Development and the University of Wisconsin “College Year in India Program,” in New Delhi, India.

Over the course of his 47 years service to higher education, Raj has been awarded more than $5,000,000 in direct and matching grants from the United States Department of Education, the United States Department of State, the Institute for International Education and other non-profit organizations.  He has also directed more than three dozen  Fulbright-program-funded domestic and overseas faculty development projects in Europe; East, Southeast, and South Asia; Africa; the Middle East; and Latin America.  A founding director of the Nine University and College International Studies Consortium of Georgia established as a result of $500,000 matching grant from the U. S. Department of Education, his  teaching and applied research interests include international education, training and development, and linkages between Western and non-Western societies.

Aside from his leadership roles in academics and administration, Raj has served as an international education consultant to such schools as the University of Pittsburgh, California State University (Sacramento), North Carolina State University, the University of Tennessee, Wittenberg University (Springfield) and the University of Alaska (Fairbanks).

In connection with his professional activities he has traveled extensively, directing and establishing linkages to develop and implement programs in England, Germany, Finland; Spain, Russia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Japan, China, India,  Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Australia, and New Zealand.

Raj is also the recipient of several awards from Tokyo Denki University, Beijing Normal University, the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (India), and Columbus State University.  These awards have recognized his promotion of international understanding through educational and cultural exchange.
