Our students, faculty, and alumni study international affairs because they genuinely want to make a difference in this world, improve the human condition, and gain important professional experience.

Washington D.C. is the hub of many government agencies, companies, think tanks, and nonprofit organizations. Our nation’s capital offers students, alums, and faculty opportunities to network and engage with like-minded individuals. The Nunn School expects to expand its footprint in the city to broaden the student experience, share Georgia Tech perspective on key policy issues drawn from basic and applied research, and enhance Georgia Tech’s impact.

Nunn School currently engages by:

  • Funding students' internships by providing grant support for unpaid opportunities at the nation’s capital
  • Supporting job exploration through resources and an annual careers visit to Washington, D.C.
  • Celebrating faculty to pursue affiliations, fellowships, and research positions at government agencies, think tanks, and nonprofits
  • Organizing alumni network opportunities and events
  • Coordinating Nunn School Security Fellows trip to the capital, which allows them to interact with policymakers and top government employees
  • Offering the GTDC program (jointly with the School of Public Policy), a fully immersive, semester-long experience in Washington, D.C. that allows students to take courses while interning

On the horizon:

  • Increase efforts to host local events that will attract alums, students, policymakers, government employees, and locals
  • Strengthen relationships with companies and organizations that will host student interns and bring guest speakers to Georgia Tech
