Distinguished Professor of the Practice and former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn co-authored an article in Foreign Affairs with Ernest J. Moniz on “Confronting the New Nuclear Peril: How a Global Fail-Safe Can Prevent Catastrophe.”

Moniz and Nunn stress that in this challenging landscape for nuclear arms control, the need to find new avenues for preventing nuclear weapons use is more urgent than ever.

They highlight an “effective form of global threat reduction” already underway in the United States: a nuclear “fail-safe” review. And they call on other nuclear-armed countries to follow suit.
