1. What do you do?
I cover the intersection of sports, media, and business for the sports industry's leading trade publication, contributing to print and digital outlets. I'm also the host of the weekly SBJ Sports Media Podcast and make appearances on outlets such asSiriusXM, NPR, and others.
2. What’s the coolest part of your job?
Getting to work with all areas of the sports business, from networks to teams to leagues to agents to advisers and beyond.
3. Why are you passionate about it?
Now in my 20th year, I still have a lot of intellectual curiosity for what goes on in my work. It's not covering players and teams and their stats — it's figuring out how an entire industry ticks.
4. Which skills from your IAC degree have helped you be successful in this career?
Analytical research, quantitative work, and strong writing skills.
5. What’s your #1 tip for students and alumni interested in your field?
Pursue something you're passionate about, and sometimes that takes time to figure out. I loved the content of the international affairs program at Georgia Tech, and even went on to focus on international law when getting my Juris Doctor. It was only a chance event that led to a career in sports business, so you never know what door you're going to walk through next.
