LTC Dan Brue II
Lieutenant Colonel Dan Roger Brue II currently serves as a War College Fellow at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech. A native of Bainbridge, Georgia, he began his career by enlisting in the Army in 1987. He served as a Communications Security Equipment Repairer and as an Intelligence Analyst prior to completing Officer Candidate School and commissioning in the Signal Corps as a Second Lieutenant in 1996.
LTC Brue’s first assignment as a Signal Officer was with Alpha Company, 123d Signal Battalion, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a Platoon Leader and as an Executive Officer, and deployed to Egypt for Exercise Bright Star. In 1998, he was reassigned to the 103d Military Intelligence Battalion, as a Battalion S6, where he deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Desert Thunder. He returned to Camp Doha, Kuwait in 1999 as Executive Officer for the 385th Signal Company.
LTC Brue then commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 63d Signal Battalion before commanding Alpha Company, 63d Signal Battalion at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Next, he served as a Plans Officer for the 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Georgia where he deployed to Kuwait as part of the Operation Iraqi Freedom. After redeploying, he served as a Combat Signal Trainer at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California.
In 2006, LTC Brue was assigned to Okinawa where he served as the S3 and later as Executive Officer for the 58th Signal Battalion. In 2010, he was assigned to United States Army Africa in Vicenza, Italy where he served as Chief, G6 Plans and Exercises Branch. While in Italy, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq with United States Forces – Iraq as Advisor for the Iraq Ministry of Defense Director General of Communications. Upon returning to Italy, he served as Chief, G6 Current Operations Branch. LTC Brue then served as the Deputy G3 for Operations for 7th Signal Command (Theater) at Fort Gordon, Georgia. From June 2014 to June 2016, LTC Brue commanded of the 41st Signal Battalion in Yongsan, South Korea. In July 2016, he returned to Fort Gordon to serve as Deputy Commander of the US Army Cyber Protection Brigade.
LTC Brue holds a Bachelor of Arts in Historical and Political Studies from Chaminade University of Honolulu, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Touro University, and a Master of Arts in Information Technology Management from Webster University.
He is a graduate of the Signal Officer Basic Course, Signal Captain’s Career Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff College, Command and General Staff College, Air Assault School, and Airborne School.
LTC Brue’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6th award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (7th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2d award), Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2d award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 campaign stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 7), Saudi Arabia – Kuwait Liberation Medal, Kuwait – Kuwait Liberation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (3d award), Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
He is married to the former Dana Elise Williams of Fayetteville, Georgia.
